It has its pros and cons. Working from home makes for a much more streamlined work day. Something about working with many people side by side. You give up some of that energy when you’re working from home.

I see companies going to this path for sure. Home offices are a path ahead indeed and specially for the new generations. Now, it is important to empower and give the appropriate support to people on this. I'm not saying just financially but also mentally to support the decision and empower this within your team and co-workers.

Read recently that open office concepts have higher percentages of sick day usage because infectious particles can travel greater distances. That is something I had not thought about before. As someone who loves to talk to people I initially thought that open offices were a great solution, but as time goes by I think more and more research is telling us the opposite.

While I think that working from home is not suitable for everyone, remote work makes sense for professionals who perform roles that are global in nature (i.e. working with a geographically dispersed team in different time zones), and those who are familiar with the work, have build relationships in the company and can be counted on delivering quality work with little or no oversight.I have worked with colleagues who perform exceptionally well remotely, while I have worked with others who need more "hand-holding" and guidance, and who do better in an office.

I personally am a huge fan of work from home (obviously). But I think it's really about the company's goals. Aside from collaboration, open plans send a very clear message - we see all.
