What is Spaghetti Warehouse?

Spaghetti Warehouse is a family-friendly Italian restaurant chain that has been serving homemade pasta and other classic dishes since 1972. The Spaghetti Warehouse Wedding Soup is a spin on traditional Italian wedding soup, which typically contains beef, chicken, vegetables, and noodles.

Spaghetti Warehouse’s version includes all those ingredients and a few extra surprises.

Why is it called Wedding Soup?

The soup gets its name from the Italian tradition of serving wedding soup at weddings. The soup is thought to represent the union of two families, as it is made with various ingredients. It is a tradition that has been passed down for generations.

What is the best pasta for an Italian Wedding Soup?

The best pasta for an Italian Wedding Soup is a small noodle, such as orzo or ditalini. These noodles are the perfect size for letting the people who eat it be able to scoop up a little of all of the soup’s delicious ingredients in each bite.

Can I make my own tiny meatballs?

Of course! We would never dream of telling you how to make your soup. However, we will give you a few tips. First, Spaghetti Warehouse combines ground beef and sweet Italian pork sausage in their meatballs. You can use any type of ground meat that you like.

Second, they add bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese to their meatballs for extra flavor and texture. Then, the Spaghetti Warehouse cooks its meatballs in a fresh tomato sauce. You can use any type of tomato sauce that you like.

Next, the Spaghetti Warehouse forms its meatballs by hand. If you don’t want to do hand-rolled meatballs, you can use a small cookie scoop or ice cream scoop to form them.

Finally, the Spaghetti Warehouse bakes its meatballs in the oven. You can also cook them on the stovetop, but rotate them in the pan to cook them evenly.

What kind of noodles do I use?

The Spaghetti Warehouse uses broken spaghetti noodles in their soup. As that is pretty common, you can usually find it in the pasta aisle of your grocery store.

If you can’t, you can use any type of pasta that you like, angel hair pasta seems the next likely go-to. Just make sure to cook it according to the package directions before adding it to the soup.

For this recipe, we used Fideo pasta. It is a type of noodle that is small and fits the recipe.

What You’ll Need to Make Spaghetti Warehouse Wedding Soup

This Spaghetti Warehouse Wedding Soup recipe is relatively easy to follow, but there are a few key ingredients you’ll need to make it just right.

  • Water – you could use chicken broth or chicken stock, but this is a broth-based soup
  • Chicken bouillon powder – skip this if using chicken broth or stock
  • Celery – this adds crunch
  • Carrot – this adds color, even more, if you go with purple or yellow carrots
  • Onion – we like yellow onions as they are the least expensive
  • Fresh spinach – it cooks down and looks better than using frozen spinach
  • Basil – a classic Italian seasoning
  • Garlic powder – use powder instead of fresh minced garlic
  • Salt & black pepper – basic seasonings. You could use white pepper if you didn’t want it to show up in the soup
  • Chicken breast – we go with boneless and skinless for ease of preparation. Pulled rotisserie chicken meat would work, also.
  • Frozen meatballs – we prefer pork meatballs for this if we aren’t making our own
  • Fideo pasta – it is easier to find than you might think, and looks like broken spaghetti
