The trend known as gig tripping -- booking travel to see an artist internationally -- has always been around, but has skyrocketed recently as a way for fans to enjoy shows, in most cases for cheaper prices, with the added perk of exploring a new city and culture. As Swift's Eras Tour continues dominating across Europe, driving an unprecedented boom in travel bookings to tour cities, concertgoers have shifted from spending on U.S. events to instead catch her abroad.

Steve Bannon to report to prison after Supreme Court denies his request to delay sentence
The U.S. Supreme Court Friday denied ex-Trump adviser Steve Bannon's request to remain out of jail while he appeals his contempt of Congress conviction. Bannon earlier this month was ordered by U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols to report to prison by July 1 to begin serving his four-month sentence. Bannon was sentenced to four months in October 2022 after he was found guilty of defying a subpoena from the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

When the justices meet on Monday for a final day of opinions, they are expected to issue a blockbuster decision on whether a former president is shielded from criminal liability for "official acts" taken while in the White House. In the case, Donald Trump is claiming such immunity to try to quash the federal election subversion prosecution brought by special counsel Jack Smith.

Former Uvalde School District Police Chief Pete Arredondo has been indicted in connection with the investigation into the 2022 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, court records show. Arredondo was charged with 10 counts of abandoning and endangering a child in connection with 10 of the Robb Elementary survivors, according to the indictment. Arredondo was booked into the Uvalde County jail Thursday night and released from custody after posting bail, according to Sheriff Ruben Nolasco.

Supreme Court limits scope of obstruction charge against Capitol rioters, Trump
The Supreme Court on Friday limited the scope of a federal obstruction statute used by prosecutors to charge more than 300 defendants involved with the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, including former President Donald Trump. Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for the 6-3 majority, said the government must show in those cases that the alleged obstruction related to "impairing the availability or integrity" of "records, documents, or objects" used in the disrupted proceeding. The Justice Department had applied the charge more broadly in many cases, alleging that the physical presence of some of the rioters inside the Capitol was alone "obstruction of an official proceeding" under the law.

The Supreme Court on Friday ruled that a local ordinance to bar anyone without a permanent residency from sleeping outside does not amount to "cruel and unusual" punishment under the Eighth Amendment. The 6-3 opinion authored by Justice Neil Gorsuch reversed an appeals court ruling that found an outdoor camping ban in Grants Pass, Oregon to be unconstitutional.

'Inhumane': Homelessness advocates slam Supreme Court decision upholding ban on sleeping outside
Homelessness advocates are condemning the Supreme Court's ruling that an Oregon city's ordinance to bar anyone without a permanent residency from sleeping outside does not amount to "cruel and unusual" punishment under the Eighth Amendment. In 2013, the Grants Pass city council attempted to ban anyone "from using a blanket, pillow or cardboard box for protection from the elements" while sleeping outside, threatening violators with citations and tickets. Lower courts initially found that this was "cruel and unusual punishment" under the Eighth Amendment.

Supreme Court dumps 40-year precedent in major blow to federal regulators
A small group of New Jersey herring fishermen landed a huge catch at the Supreme Court. Chief Justice John Roberts on Friday, writing for a 6-3 majority, significantly reeled in the power of federal regulators, tossing out a 40-year precedent on agency authority and a Commerce Department rule that the fishermen said could drive them out of business. The opinion -- officially overturning a 1984 decision known as "Chevron" -- creates a big splash, making it much easier for businesses and other interests to challenge rules touching every aspect of American life from food inspections, workplace safety, tax collection, environmental regulation and more.

Stationed at the Nahal Oz IDF base, less than half a mile from Gaza, they were known as "the eyes of the military"-- monitoring hundreds of surveillance cameras overlooking the border, 24/7. "It felt like something out of the ordinary was about to happen," said Roni Lifsh*tz, an observation soldier who was part of Unit 414 but happened to be away at a training on Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise terrorist attack on Israel. Lifsh*tz said she risks serious consequences in speaking to a news organization.

The panda diplomacy ambassadors, Yun Chuan and Xin Bao, are the first new set of pandas to make their way to the U.S. in 21 years. Caretaker Huang Shan, who prepared the animals for the journey by teaching them commands in English, traveled with the 3-year-old and 4-year-old bears to assist with the transition to their new home.

After the tragic event at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers in 2022, a local librarian is giving back to the community where he was raised. Mendell Morgan, Director of Development for El Progreso Memorial Library, welcomes people, especially those in Uvalde, to come for counseling services and other mental relaxation. "After the tragedy here, I really wanted to do something for the community of Uvalde," Morgan said.

"The Inspectors General from the Department of Defense (DOD) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have launched coordinated, independent oversight projects related to their agencies' respective roles in the ongoing delivery and distribution of U.S. humanitarian assistance to Gaza through the maritime corridor," read a statement issued jointly by the offices of both Inspectors General.

A gigantic fish measuring 6 feet long and weighing 220 pounds has been caught in the Hudson River in New York during an environmental survey, officials said. The catch happened last week during an Atlantic sturgeon survey when staff from the Hudson River Estuary Program captured the enormous creature. “It was suspected to be a female that had not yet spawned,” said the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in a statement on social media.

While this debate wasn't the first time the two candidates contended over issues ranging from immigration and the economy to abortion access -- this presidential debate saw the two candidates forced to follow the rules. Ahead of the debate, held in a studio at CNN's Atlanta headquarters, both campaigns agreed to a set of guidelines established by CNN, which included muted microphones, no live studio audience and restricting the candidates from consulting with their teams during commercial breaks. Biden and Trump were given two minutes to answer each question and one minute for rebuttal.
