General information
Nursultan Nazarbayev Airport is a big airport in the north of Kazakhstan, a new international terminal (T1) opened in 2017. The airport is mainly used by Air Astana and SCAT Airlines, two airlines from Kazakhstan. In March 2019, the name of the capital of Kazakhstan changed in honour of Nursultan Nazarbayev from Astana to Nur-Sultan, the name of the airport changed as well.

Nursultan Nazarbayev Airport is located south to the modern capital of the country. The M36 motorway is located near the airport, which is a major thoroughfare in Kazakhstan.
How many terminals does Nursultan Nazarbayev Airport have?
The airport has two terminals since the summer of 2017, when the new international terminal T1 was inaugurated. T2 is now only used for domestic flights. The terminals are next to each other and have both six jet bridges.

I arrived airport very late, after midnight - international terminal T1 (June 2023). Immigration officers were very kind and just asked simple questions like why I'm visiting Kazakhstan and how many days I'm going to stay. Answered politely and they welcomed me. WIFI was not working! That make me angry at first because friend arranged me taxi by Yandex (something like UBER). I couldn't connect and send message or even find taxi. Roaming was crazy expensive from my telecom. After I claimed the luggage, I have found still opened duty free shop with alcohol, cosmetics and other simple stuff like chocolate, beers, water or soft drinks. Staff spoke English and I paid by visa card without any problems. Went outside (many tax drivers bother you but you just ignore them and go ahead to some point). Some coffee shop was still opened and another side of terminal was another cafeteria with alcoholic drinks. Just on the left from custom green pass was small shop with phone covers and sim cards. Staff was very helpful and I paid for sim card with internet (asked for bigger GB so she reduced calling minutes). I paid 6500 KZT (14.5 USD) for sim card and lady set it up all (need your passport to register it). The currency exchange place was still opened and rates were not very bad but probably was some extra fee which make it unfavourable. Arranged taxi by Yandex was extremely cheap and driver was very patient and waited me 10 minutes (I paid for his time). Hotel asked to pay 15000 KZT (33.5 USD) which was crazy high rate (hotel was very near). So, I paid 10 times lower price, about 1500 KZT (3.3 USD). Hotel price 58600 KZT for 2 nights, 1 person, 4 stars with breakfast, about 65 USD per night.

We've just came back form Nur Sultan and like to suggest two edits:
- You can not pay the driver on the bus anymore, payment can be done only by card or app. If you don't have mobile internet connection or you're in the city only for few hours and don't want to buy a special card, you can ask one of the locals to pay for you in the app and give him the cash (that's what we did).
- It's worth noting that there's luggage storage at the airport. It cost around 1800T for few hours.
