This tasty dip starts withbacon, so right off the bat you know it’s gonna be a hit with football fans. To make it even more over irresistible, you cook up the onions in the bacon grease with a little sugar and some seasonings. By this point your house smells pretty amazing, so don’t be surprised if people come running. 🙂

After cooking your bacon and onions, all you do is stir all the ingredients together in a slow cooker. I have a Little Dipper Crock Pot, and it was the perfect size for my family. If you will be serving a crowd, you will want to double it and use a larger crock pot.In an hour or two, you will have a cheesy, melty, absolutely mouthwatering dip. Just look at that cheese!

FAQs

Can you put raw bacon in a slow cooker? ›

If you place a package of bacon raw into a crock pot or slow cooker, all that fat really has no where to go and the bacon will basically just cook in its own fat. The end result, in my opinion, just isn't very palatable. (Edible though and some may like this…)

How long does bacon take to cook in a slow cooker? ›

Bacon is relatively thin when compared to chuck roasts and other items one typically prepares in a slow cooker. That means whipping up a batch of bacon can take three hours or even longer.

When not to cook bacon? ›

The only smell you should detect from bacon is a faint smokiness. Slime: If your bacon is slimy, it's a sure sign that bacteria are present and spreading on the meat. Toss it out! Discoloration: Green, grey, or brown discoloration means that the bacon is no longer safe to eat.

Is it better to cook bacon low and slow or high and fast? ›

Even if you're in a hurry, we really don't recommend this method. Stovetop (medium-low heat): We started with a cold pan, put the bacon in, and turned the heat to medium-low. It took 18 minutes to cook and the result was bacon with a great bite, good color, and rich flavor. This one's definitely a winner.
